Hong Kong’s May retail sales up 2.4%, ending 14-month contraction

Provisional figures from Census and Statistics Department show total retail sales in May reached HK$31.3 billion.

Hong Kong’s retail sales by value rose 2.4 per cent in May from a year earlier, the first increase in more than a year, government data showed on Wednesday (Jul 2).

Hong Kong Luxury Sales Slip Further in May

May sales of luxury goods fell 3.2% year on year in Hong Kong, even as overall retail rebounded during the month.  Revenue from jewelry, watches, clocks and valuable gifts totaled HKD 3.87 billion ($493.1 million) in May, the municipality’s Census and Statistics Department reported Wednesday.
