Honda recalls 65K vehicles over display panel issues
Honda will update software free for 65,000 affected 2024 Acura ZDX and Prologue vehicles after panel display failures raised crash risk, NHTSA said.
- On Feb. 26, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced a recall of over 65,000 2024 Acura ZDX and Prologue vehicles after American Honda Motor Co. reported display failures, as the recall covers more than 65,000 vehicles and may cause the display to go blank while driving.
- The Feb. 26 recall notice says a software error in the vehicle radio control module can intermittently blank the display and rearview camera image, reducing driver visibility.
- Honda noted the display may recover after a restart, with 148 warranty claims reported as of Feb. 19, and authorized Honda and Acura dealerships will update the software free of charge.
- Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by April 20, Honda owners can contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138, and VINs can be searched on the NHTSA website using recall numbers TNL and XNK.
- Honda estimates about 1% of the more than 65,000 affected vehicles have the software issue, following a recall days after Ford's nearly 1.74 million-vehicle recall, as NHTSA highlights related failures.
