Hollyoaks star quits Channel 4 soap after 8 years in shock exit for fans
Jessamy Stoddart is leaving for maternity leave after eight years, and Liberty departs after deciding to start over in New Zealand.
On Wednesday, May 27, actor Jessamy Stoddart departed the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks after eight years, with her character Liberty Savage exiting in a storyline that saw her relocating to New Zealand.
Liberty's departure followed a difficult period recovering from an affair with serial killer Jez Blake; after consulting with Thersea and Myra, she decided to move to New Zealand with her daughter, Faith.
In her final scenes, Liberty departed in a taxi with Faith, shouting, "Oh, just get on with it and snog him!" to Mercedes and Warren.
Stoddart is leaving Hollyoaks to begin her maternity leave; in December, the actor revealed she was pregnant with her second child with husband Ryan O'Gorman, sharing, "So incredibly lucky to be growing a little brother or sister."
The actor's eight-year tenure as Liberty concludes, marking a significant transition as Stoddart prepares for her growing family's new chapter with the arrival of her second child.
