AUSTRALIA, JUL 22 – Ali France overcame personal loss and disability to achieve a 7.7% swing, unseating Peter Dutton in the marginal Brisbane seat of Dickson after a seven-year campaign.
- On July 22, 2025, Member for Dickson Ali France delivered her maiden speech at Parliament House, Canberra, marking her parliamentary debut.
- After her son's death from leukaemia in February 2024, Ali France said her son's courage propelled her into politics.
- In 2011, Ms France survived a crash that cost her a leg, endured six surgeries and PTSD, and underwent a rare osseointegration procedure done only 25 times.
- In a historic upset, Ali France toppled long-time opponent Peter Dutton, ending his seat since 2001 with a 7.7 per cent swing.
