Hinton soldier killed in World War II to be laid to rest on Wednesday
Basil Marion Cook, 31, of Hinton, Mercer County, West Virginia, was killed in November 1944 while driving a M-4 Sherman tank engaged with German forces near Hucheln, Germany. On Aug. 6, 2025, his remains will be buried in Hinton with full military honors.
