Chance the Rapper drew a capacity crowd of about 5,000 as the festival opened with one of its biggest headliners yet.
- On Friday, three-time Grammy Award winner Chance the Rapper headlined the opening night of the Phillips Backyard Festival at Phillips Brewing in Victoria, drawing a capacity crowd of roughly 5,000.
- Debuting in 2013, the festival has grown into Victoria's premier summer music event, gaining prominence after Rifflandia announced its annual summer festival would not take place in 2026.
- Music BC Dylan Willows Stage provided a platform for 12 artists throughout the weekend, with four musicians showcasing talents about 200 metres from the main stage on Friday.
- Attendee Alex Brind said the performance "blew away any bit of expectations that I had," while Chantal Brown noted the trip from Kelowna was worth it as the festival became their weekend's centerpiece.
