Inflation in Iceland rose to 5.9 percent in September, preliminary figures from the country's Statistics Iceland showed. This is the highest inflation rate in more than two years and compares with 5.6 percent in August and an inflation target of 2.5 percent.

Inflation has risen for four months in a row and has reached 5.9 percent. It has not been higher since August 2024. Most of the time, the price of diesel rose by 18.1 percent and gasoline by 16.1 percent after the temporary reduction in tax was dropped.
