High school graduate earns full scholarship after housing insecurity
He raised his GPA to 4.3 and SAT score to 1320, earning a full scholarship after two years in The Path program.
Recent Lake Worth High School graduate Antoine Cowart is heading to Florida State University this fall on a full scholarship after overcoming housing insecurity and financial hardship through a local community outreach program called "The Path."
"We were definitely homeless at some points," Cowart said, explaining how the ACE program—Achieving Character Excellence—provided mentorship and college readiness support to help him succeed.
Over two years, Cowart raised his GPA to 4.3 and increased his SAT score from 1160 to 1320, while his time in golf operations helped him decide to major in marketing.
Program Director Dave Andrews emphasized that support continues beyond high school, stating, "We want to be assured that as they continue to grow, we only continue to inspire them more" through secondary college mentorship.
The program currently serves 12 students and aims for success rates between 90-95% inside the academic year, with Andrews noting, "That number will be a little bit higher this year.
