Lexar Unveils Muse, the World's Thinnest Portable SSD, at IFA 2026
The drive uses Lexar’s SnapLink magnetic cable and reaches read speeds up to 1,050 MB/s for mobile creators.
- On Friday, September 4, 2026, Lexar unveiled the Muse at IFA 2026 in Berlin, introducing what the company describes as the world's thinnest portable SSD with a card-like form and magnetic connectivity.
- Measuring approximately 3.8mm at its thickest point and tapering to 1mm at the edges, the drive relies on a "custom ultra-thin PCB architecture" and a proprietary SnapLink Magnetic Cable for connectivity.
- Performance remains solid with read speeds up to 1,050 MB/s and write speeds maxing out at 1,000 MB/s, fast enough to record 4K Apple ProRes video at up to 120 fps on compatible iPhones.
- Beyond the new portable drive, Lexar is showcasing its AI Storage Core at the event, featuring next-generation AI-grade Gen5 SSD and AI-grade Gen5 Storage Stick technologies with bandwidth up to 11 GB/s.
- As the company celebrates its 30th anniversary, the Muse Ultra-Slim Portable SSD is scheduled to launch later this year in 512GB and 1TB capacities, expanding its global storage portfolio.
