The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has put a stay on school mergers in Sitapur. The court ordered that no new mergers will take place and the status quo will remain until the final settlement of the petition. The lawyers of the petitioners highlighted the discrepancies in the government data, on which the court took serious cognizance. This decision will currently apply only to Sitapur district.
