For decades, it was a work known for a few and seen even less. Far from the exhibition rooms, Châtaigniers en flores has remained in a private collection while the name of its author became one of the most recognized in the history of art. Now, Van Gogh's painting finally returns to be shown to the public and prepares to change hands.

Auction house Sotheby's expects a record yield at the auction of a work by Vincent van Gogh. The value of Châtaigniers en fleurs (Chestnut Trees in Bloom) is estimated at 180 million dollars (158 million euros). The work has not been publicly exhibited for sixty years.
