Wynnchurch Capital Exits Labrie Environmental Group
The deal would give Hiab four additional manufacturing sites and lift annual sales at Labrie to $491 million, analysts said.
On Monday, Finnish on-road equipment maker Hiab Corporation agreed to acquire North American garbage truck manufacturer Labrie Environmental Group for $1.035 billion, with closing expected in the third quarter of 2026.
Wynnchurch Capital acquired Labrie in September 2020 and undertook a comprehensive transformation, doubling production throughput and expanding manufacturing capacity across four sites in Canada, the U.S., and Mexico.
Labrie generated $491 million in sales and $113 million in comparable EBITDA over the 12 months through March, marketing products under the Labrie, Wittke, and Leach brands.
Investors responded positively to the announcement, with Hiab shares rising 7% in early trading; analysts at OP Financial Group noted the acquisition should improve growth potential and margins.
Michael Eastabrook, President and CEO of Labrie, stated he is "excited about the opportunities ahead," though the deal remains subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
