Here’s What Happened at the End of ‘The Other Bennet Sister’
Mary rejects a loveless match, then accepts Tom Hayward’s proposal as the 10-episode series closes with her becoming an author.
- On Wednesday, BritBox and the BBC announced that The Other Bennet Sister will return for a three-part Christmas special, with production set to take place primarily in Wales this summer.
- Adapted from Janice Hadlow's 2020 novel, the drama stars Ella Bruccoleri as Mary Bennet, a character screenwriter Sarah Quintrell noted "does feel like a 2026 heroine."
- The series drew 7.3 million viewers in its first 28 days in the U.K., while BritBox reported it drove five times more new subscribers than any previous launch.
- Screenwriter Quintrell will return to write the specials, while director Asim Abbasi will helm the episodes, which will explore characters' lives after "the wedding bells fade."
- Because the first season covered the full arc of the source novel, these upcoming episodes will introduce original storylines from Hadlow to explore what happens after the wedding.
