The first two of the 64 ordered F-35 fighter jets have arrived at the Finnish Air Force base in Rovaniemi. The third of the expected fighters has not yet arrived from the US and remains in the Portuguese Azores, likely due to a malfunction, the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper reported on Saturday.
Finland's first two F-35A fighters arrived at Rovaniemi Airport. The arrival was witnessed by an estimated two hundred people. According to Henrik Elo, project manager of the Finnish Air Force, the atmosphere at the Lapland Air Base was "enthusiastic and indescribable".
