Archaeologists have uncovered a massive 2,000-year-old Jewish ritual purification complex just steps from Jerusalem’s Temple Mount, offering a remarkable glimpse into how pilgrims prepared to worship at the Second Temple.
Science and Haitek: Archaeologists from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem discovered a monumental complex of ritual pools at the Temple Mount to wash the Pilgrims from the first century B.C.E. until 70 C.E.
The uncovered complex is approximately 280 square meters, including three large public mikvahs, a plastered pool, and a water and drainage system.
