The proposal to tax remittances with 3.5 percent, approved in the U.S. House of Representatives “is not fair, it is not a legitimate tax,” said Vidal Llerenas, Undersecretary of Economy. He added that in case it is finally endorsed by both chambers, “it will not be easy to enforce it, because there are many mechanisms by which money can be sent.”
