Henry Rollins and Ian MacKaye Unearth and Release Lost Album by The Cramps
Henry Rollins and Ian MacKaye are reviving Vengeance Records and issuing 12 restored tracks from the band’s 1977 sessions.
- Henry Rollins and Ian MacKaye announced the revival of Vengeance Records to release 'Gravest Gravy', a lost 1977 studio album by The Cramps, arriving August 21.
- Larry Hardy of In The Red Records discovered the lost tapes in 2026, which feature sessions recorded in 1977 with producer Alex Chilton. The reels were found in "pristine condition."
- The 12-track LP features "TV Set", available now with a Jason Willis-directed music video. Rollins called it "one of the purest collections of unrestrained, wild music you'll ever hear."
- Poison Ivy Rorschach formed The Cramps, Inc. with Jimmy Maslon and Larry Hardy to manage the band's catalog and reissue records. The company aims to list official merchandise, replacing bootlegged items in circulation.
- The Cramps formally ended in 2009 following the death of co-founder Lux Interior. Rollins stated this effort is a "combined effort of people whose lives were changed by the music of the Cramps.
