Three long days of debate were required for Members to determine the main criteria for access to help to die. At the heart of the discussion was the question of age, the need for a vital prognosis, the degree of suffering or the expression of a free and enlightened will.
Aid to Die: Members Voted on the Five Cumulative Conditions for a Sick Person to Be Eligible
The right will be granted to adults, French or residents, if they are suffering from a "serious and incurable condition" in "advanced" or "terminal", if they have "physical or psychological suffering", and if they are able to manifest their will in a free and enlightened manner.
