City halts Crescent Lake water pumping, seeks solutions under new invasive species rules
The City of Portage la Prairie has paused efforts to pump water from the Assiniboine River into Crescent Lake due to new provincial regulations targeting aquatic invasive species.
So far, the spread of the yellow pondweed that is taking over the Aura River has only been slowed down. Once funding is secured, tougher measures will be implemented.
