Fire Damages Gaming Stand at State Fair of Texas
Crews extinguished the blaze within 26 minutes, and officials said the stand was closed with no injuries reported.
On Tuesday morning, Dallas Fire-Rescue crews responded to a fire at a "balloon pop" game stand on the Midway at the Texas State Fair, with no injuries reported as the stand was closed.
Upon arriving shortly after 7 a.m., firefighters found large plumes of black smoke and extinguished the blaze about 15 minutes later, declaring it "out" by 7:26 a.m.
Investigators determined an electrical short sparked the fire, destroying the stand and various prizes including large stuffed animals, while crews continue extinguishing hot spots within the debris.
Despite the fire, the State Fair will open at 10 a.m. today as scheduled, with the Midway opening at 11 a.m., while a perimeter remains in place for fairgoer safety.
Addressing the incident, officials stated, "The safety of our fairgoers, vendors, volunteers, and team members remains our top priority," as management appreciates ongoing public cooperation during cleanup.
