Tuesday PM Forecast: Pop-up Shower Chances Fade as Heat Builds Into End of Week
The advisory runs through the weekend as low-to-mid 90s temperatures and humidity push heat indices to 105-110 degrees, forecasters said.
On Tuesday, the National Weather Service in Melbourne issued a heat advisory for Central Florida, warning of heat indices ranging from 105 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
WESH 2's First Warning Weather team issued an Impact Weather warning from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. as surface moisture drives feels-like temperatures above 108 degrees.
Regular temperatures will climb into the low to mid 90s through the week, with rain chances remaining below normal at 20 to 30 percent, limiting relief.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments and staying hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids.
By the weekend, the heat wave is expected to persist as high pressure strengthens across the Southeast, creating Moderate to Major Heat Risk across Central Florida.
