Hearings for Citizenship Under CAA Will Soon Be over, 23,000 Certificates Already Issued: Suvendu Adhikari

- On Monday, provisions of the West Bengal Maintenance of Public Order Bill, 2026, took effect; Adhikari warned that those damaging government property would face strict compensation and legal penalties.
- The Chief Minister's remarks followed violence during CAA protests in Murshidabad; Adhikari targeted the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress, alleging past corruption and vowing the "harshest punishment" for offenders.
- With about 2.07 lakh applications still pending, Adhikari stated that all pending CAA citizenship cases in the state will be disposed of within the next six months.
