The anti-corruption judge Renán Andrade will announce at 15:00 this Friday if he declares the procedural validity within the so-called Triple A case, in which the mayor of Guayaquil, Achilles Alvarez, is being prosecuted, who attended the proceedings in person.
On June 13, 2025, the preparatory hearing for the trial of the case known as "Triple A" was held in the Northern Judicial Complex in Quito. In it, the Prosecutor's Office brought charges against the mayor of Guayaquil, Achilles Álvarez, along with 15 other people and five companies, for alleged illegal commercialization of fuels.
The criminal proceedings advance to the preparatory stage of the trial, while the mayor's defense asks to review the precautionary measures.
In the Northern Judicial Complex, the preparatory hearing for the trial of the Triple A case was reinstated on Thursday, a criminal case for alleged illegal marketing of hydrocarbons involving 16 natural persons and 6 legal entities.
