An increase in the rates for mutual societies is foreseen for the year 2026, for both individual and company contracts.
The increase is lower than in previous years (+6% in 2025 on average, +8.1% in 2024, +4.7% in 2023), but it remains at a much higher level than before the Covid (+2.6% per year on average over the decade 2010-2020).
Mutuals will increase their rates from 4.3% to 4.7% in 2026. French Mutuality points to an "absolute emergency" to control health spending, denouncing an "abnormal" French tax and a transfer of charges since sickness insurance.
"The increase in health spending" covered by social security and health supplements "has been increasing since 2020", according to the Fédération nationale de la mutualité française.
