How major changes to Austria's health record system will impact you

A long-awaited upgrade to Austria’s healthcare portal promises new tools for patients, doctors and mobile users. Here's how the changes will affect you.

The electronic health record is extended by an app, laboratory data, X-rays and more.

The electronic health act (ELGA) system, which has been in existence for ten years, will have several extensions. As of 1 July, established laboratories and radiologists will have to record findings as well as images, and by 2026 until 2030, further health data and findings will be added. An ELGA app will also be added.

The coalition remains committed to the development of the electronic health record and has also written this project into its government programme.
