- On Wednesday, Israeli passenger Yaniv Hayun and three others subdued the co-pilot of FlyDubai flight FZ1073, with Hayun manually stabilizing the Boeing 737 to prevent a crash during the emergency flight to Saudi Arabia.
- Hayun later told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu he knew how to stabilize the aircraft because he watches "Air Crash Investigation," after a woman screamed "stabbing" and the plane shook.
- Captain Smit Machchhar remains in stable condition at a hospital in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, while Israeli President Isaac Herzog nominated Hayun, Tzvika Manes, his wife Tali, and Dr. Shota Musaev for the Presidential Award for Civilian Heroism.
- Passenger Asaf Rajuan, also nominated for the award, stated, "It's something you do without thinking, running to save your daughter's life," as a second air crew helped land the plane safely.
- "Mayday" executive producer Alex Bystram said the show airs in 175 countries and aims to dispel aviation mysteries, calling the captain's actions "remarkable" despite the program being "far from a teaching tool on how to fly.
