Hayden Hackney's Boro exit moves a step closer with latest Everton development
Everton agreed a deal worth at least £16.5 million for the 24-year-old midfielder, who is expected to be announced within a week.
On Wednesday, midfielder Hayden Hackney underwent his medical ahead of his transfer from Middlesbrough to Everton, with the deal worth £17m up front and potentially £25m with add-ons.
After Boro missed promotion last season, the 24-year-old decided to leave with one year remaining on his contract, having previously rejected interest from Ipswich Town to pursue Premier League football.
A product of the Rockliffe Park academy, the former Championship Player of the Season leaves Middlesbrough having recorded 16 goals across 154 senior appearances for the club.
Everton manager David Moyes welcomed the midfielder, stating, "Hayden is a promising young player who we've been tracking for some time," citing his record of developing Championship talent.
While Hackney aims to join pre-season training immediately, Middlesbrough are reportedly targeting Leicester City midfielder Oliver Skipp to strengthen their squad after missing promotion.
