Full Details as Boro and Everton Near Agreement for the Sale of Hayden Hackney
Everton have improved their offer for the 23-year-old, with Middlesbrough expected to receive about £25 million after rejecting three earlier bids.
Everton is nearing a deal to sign Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney for around £25m, with the Premier League club pushing hard to secure the Championship Player of the Year.
After missing out on promotion following a play-off final loss to Hull City, Middlesbrough accepted that a sale became inevitable, having previously rejected three offers from the Toffees.
The Telegraph claims the total fee will reach £25m, including an initial £16.5m payment, after Middlesbrough leveraged interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace to maximize the return.
Should Hackney join, he becomes Everton's second midfield signing this summer, following the £18m acquisition of Merlin Rohl, though Manager David Moyes faces uncertainty regarding Idrissa Gueye's future.
Middlesbrough is already closing in on signing Hull City striker Kyle Joseph for around £5m, planning to reinvest Hackney's sale proceeds into manager Kim Hellberg's squad rebuild.
