Hawkins Accounts for 4 TDs in West Virginia’s 52-7 Win over UT Martin
Hawkins completed five of seven passes for 155 yards and added 96 rushing yards as West Virginia improved to 2-0.
On Saturday, West Virginia University defeated the UT Martin Skyhawks 52-7 at Milan Puskar Stadium, moving to 2-0 for the first time since 2018.
Third-Year quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. threw a 53-yard scoring pass to fifth-year wide receiver DJ Epps on the opening drive, adding two rushing touchdowns for a 28-0 halftime lead.
The Mountaineers utilized 525 yards of total offense to dominate; however, the defense allowed 246 yards in the first half, including three plays of at least 24 yards.
First-Year quarterback Jyron Hughley entered the game in the fourth quarter, connecting with first-year wide receiver Kedrick Triplett for a 27-yard touchdown.
The Mountaineers will travel to Charlotte, North Carolina, to face Virginia in the Duke's Mayo Classic at Bank of America Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 19.
