Disney Announces New Rides, Attractions and Renovations Coming to Walt Disney World
Disney says the ride will feature a giant Audio-Animatronics Indiana Jones and an original story rooted in Maya culture.
- On Saturday, Disney Legend Harrison Ford revealed via video at D23 that he is the model for the animatronic in the new attraction, "Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent," at Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom.
- Replacing the closed Dinoland, the project is being developed by Imagineers Michael Hundgen and Chris Beatty to anchor the new Tropical Americas section of the park.
- Transporting guests into the Maya Underworld, the attraction features revolutionary Audio-Animatronics figures and a serpentine creature called the Tsuk that protects the mysterious passageway.
- Returning for this project, Ford jokingly noted the animatronic will share his signature fear of snakes, despite previously suggesting his role in The Dial of Destiny was his last.
- With Ford stating the ride would open "Soon," Disney has not provided a specific opening date, though the addition expands on previous Indiana Jones attractions at Hollywood Studios.
