Ujjain Municipal Corporation Asks IIT Indore to Help with Relocating Temple Idol
An Archaeology Department team inspected the 8-foot idol as worship continued and officials paused the move for road widening.

- As part of preparations for Simhastha 2028, authorities have demolished more than 200 structures for road expansion. The temple, which is more than 150 years old and associated with the Scindia state, now stands as the only structure at the site.
- Supporting the idol is a stone foundation extending around four to five feet underground, while the Khade Hanuman idol itself stands eight feet tall. Despite the removal of the temple's dome and walls, the idol remains firmly in place.
- Strong opposition from the Vishva Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, and local devotees halted the relocation. Worship continues daily at the site, with people lining up to perform 'jhaada' in the belief that the practice promotes good health and keeps illnesses away.
- The Archaeology Department is inspecting the site, though no solution has emerged. As the statue refuses to move, some devotees describe the situation as a divine miracle, urging the administration to allow the shrine to remain at its historic location.
