The ECOWAS Regional Centre for Disease Surveillance and Control (CRSCM) issued an information note on 8 May 2026 on an outbreak of Hantavirus infection detected on board a Dutch-flagged cruise ship. The alert had been given by the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) of Cape Verde on 2 May, while the vessel was off the archipelago.
