Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Saskatchewan Roughriders earn top grades in CFLPA report cards
The CFL Players' Association survey of 381 players rated Hamilton and Saskatchewan highest for off-field workplace conditions, with two teams receiving failing marks in nutrition and family treatment.
- On Wednesday, the CFL Players' Association unveiled its second annual team report cards, with Hamilton Tiger-Cats earning five As and five Bs and Saskatchewan Roughriders receiving five As but a C for treatment of families.
- The CFL Players' Association distributed a 78-question online survey to all players on CFL rosters, with 381 players responding anonymously using multiple-choice, rating and open-ended questions averaged into grades.
- Only two clubs received failing marks, with the B.C. Lions earning an F for nutrition/diet and the Montreal Alouettes an F for treatment of family plus Ds for ownership/business operations and facilities and equipment.
- The CFL Players' Association said the report cards help players make informed free-agency decisions and raise league standards, collaborating with Dr. Desmond McEwen and following the NFL Players' Association model.
- Complaints included that `The shuttles they had running were not convenient at all and not always available`, a player said, during training camp at Queen's University, Kingston, Ont., last year.
