Halla-aho says burnout and depression forced him from party leadership
Jussi Halla-aho, now speaker of Finland’s parliament, has disclosed in a new biography that exhaustion and depression drove his decision to quit as leader of the Finns Party in 2021. In Jussi Halla-aho – Elämäkerta by journalist Markku Heikkilä, he describes struggling with insomnia, personal turmoil and doubts about politics. He wrote that for years he slept only a few hours a night, often fearing he might collapse from fatigue.
In his biography, Jussi Halla-aho strongly criticizes former Prime Minister Sanna Marin and his predecessor Timo Soin.
