Halifax stadium and entertainment district proposal fails to gain traction: developer
The $1.5 billion plan for a 25,000-seat stadium and 8,000 homes stalled after backers failed to provide a business case or proof of capital.
An ambitious $1.5-billion stadium and entertainment project by U.S.-based Ridgehaven Holdings near Halifax Stanfield International Airport has collapsed after talks fell apart last year when the bid lacked key planning elements.
Jason Brunt, president of Halifax-based Clayton Developments, says the proposal lacked a business plan, feasibility study, financial analysis and proof of capital.
The proposed development was designed to include a 25,000-seat multi-use stadium, entertainment district and 8,000 homes near the airport.
Brunt confirmed the land parcel has been sold to another buyer, while Delaware-based representatives declined to comment on the collapsed bid.
With the land now in other hands, Halifax's development landscape shifts away from the Ridgehaven vision after Clayton Developments opted to pursue alternative qualified bidders.
