Halifax County man gets 15-year sentence for firearm offense

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) -- Trevonta Lynch has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for reaching for a loaded firearm in front of law enforcement officers during a traffic stop. According to a press release, Lynch, a violent repeat offender with a history of violent felonies, was on supervised probation at the time of the stop and has been convicted of 12 instances of breaking and entering.
