Hal Williams, ‘Sanford and Son’ and ‘227’ Star, Dead at 91

- Between 1985 and 1990, Williams portrayed Lester Jenkins on '227', starring alongside Marla Gibbs as his wife, Mary Jenkins, and Regina King as their daughter, Brenda Jenkins.
- Beyond television, Williams appeared in films including 'Hardcore' , 'The Rookie' , and 'Guess Who' , while most recently guest-starring in the rebooted 'Matlock' with Kathy Bates.
- In honor of his late son, Williams established the Mark K.A. Williams Memorial Scholarship Foundation to support students of color pursuing television and communications degrees; he is survived by two children, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
