A "malignant actor" was able to consult a part of the national bank account file (FICOBA), which lists all bank accounts opened in French institutions. According to the Directorate General of Public Finance (DGFiP), these leaks "do not allow to consult the bank accounts in France.
The French economy ministry said on Wednesday that a single hacker had managed to access the national bank account database and view information on 1.2 million accounts.
The holders of 1.2 million accounts concerned "will receive in the next few days individual information alerting them that access to their data has been found", according to Bercy.
The Ministry of Economy announced on Wednesday that a "male actor" had been able to access data on 1.2 million bank accounts.
