Invest 93-L Nears Louisiana Coast with 30% Chance of Tropical Development
LOUISIANA, JUL 17 – Invest 93-L carries a 30% chance of development but is expected to drop heavy rain causing localized flash flooding and potential tornadoes across southern Louisiana, officials said.
- Moving westward across the northern Gulf, the disturbance nears landfall, with Invest 93L expected to reach the Louisiana coast later today, according to the National Hurricane Center.
- Deep tropical moisture moving across the northern Gulf Coast fuels the system, as NOAA reports a surge of humidity driving heavy rain inland.
- Forecasts show 4–8 inches of rain across southern Louisiana, with pockets of 8–12 inches possible and local StormMax up to 16 inches, as predicted for the region.
