Colombian Guerrillas Fleeing Venezuela After US Strike: Report
Colombian guerrilla commanders who allegedly operated in Venezuela are fleeing following the US military operation in Caracas that ousted leader Nicolas Maduro, a source in the Colombian forces told AFP on Tuesday.
It is suspected that the ELN's top commander, alias Antonio García, crossed the border, as well as former FARC number two Iván Márquez, who after signing the peace in 2016 formed his own armed organization.
A Colombian official is expressing fears for the future of the region after the US attack on Venezuela, speaking of a potential "disaster that Latin America has never known."
