Guardians Place Chase DeLauter on Injured List and Recall Kahlil Watson
Kahlil Watson was recalled from Triple-A Columbus as DeLauter joins José Ramírez and Angel Martínez on the injured list, leaving Cleveland short-handed.
On Wednesday, the Cleveland Guardians placed outfielder Chase DeLauter on the 10-day injured list due to a fractured rib, recalling Kahlil Watson from Triple-A Columbus to fill the roster spot.
DeLauter suffered the injury during Saturday's 3-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers, a game that also resulted in injuries to third baseman Jose Ramirez and outfielder Angel Martinez.
Ramirez underwent surgery Tuesday for a broken hand and faces a 5-to-7-week recovery, while Martinez will be sidelined for 4 to 6 weeks with a fractured foot.
The 23-year-old Watson, who hit 12 homers and 35 RBIs in 56 games at Columbus, will make his Major League debut Wednesday against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Heading into Wednesday's action, the Guardians remain tied for first place in the American League Central with the Chicago White Sox despite significant personnel losses.
