Grouse mating attendance hits seven-year high; expected to decrease in 2026

CASPER, Wyo. — Sage grouse lek attendance numbers across the state this mating season reached a seven-year high, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department announced. This year saw particularly robust mating efforts as the result of natural cycles and plenty of spring moisture. Leks are the exposed earthen platforms used by sage grouse during courtship displays.
