Groundbreaking Achievement: Study of Ensartinib as Postoperative Adjuvant Therapy Published in The New England Journal of Medicine
The ELEVATE study of Betta Pharmaceuticals' ensartinib as postoperative adjuvant therapy for stage IB-IIIB ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer was published online in The New England Journal of Medicine on July 8.
In the ELEVATE study, 274 patients from 56 medical centers in China were randomized to receive either oral ensartinib or placebo after surgery and any planned chemotherapy.
The study showed a 2-year disease-free survival rate of 86.4% with ensartinib versus 53.5% with placebo, with a hazard ratio of 0.20 in patients with stage II to IIIB non-small cell lung cancer.
Two years of adjuvant ensartinib treatment reduces the risk of disease recurrence or death by 80% according to the study results.
