Seahawks Safety Nick Emmanwori Passes Physical as He Nears Return From Ankle Surgery
Nick Emmanwori is cleared to practice after ankle surgery, but ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports he is not guaranteed to play in Week 1.
On Tuesday, Seattle Seahawks safety Nick Emmanwori passed his physical, clearing him to begin practicing immediately at the VMAC.
Emmanwori began training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list following ankle surgery last month to address damage sustained four days before the Super Bowl.
Last season, the 22-year-old recorded 11 passes defended, one interception, and 2 1/2 sacks in 14 games for Seattle, providing critical versatility across multiple defensive positions.
While Emmanwori returns, Seahawks Head Coach Mike Macdonald confirmed fullback Robbie Ouzts was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, with Brady Russell assuming the starting role.
Despite clearing his physical, Emmanwori is not guaranteed to play in the September 9 season opener against the New England Patriots, as Coach Macdonald has yet to confirm his availability.
