The Governor of Banco de Portugal is in favour of an increase in interest rates as early as next month. Álvaro Santos Pereira says that inflation remains the main concern and warns that the effects of the crisis in the Middle East will persist even after the end of the conflict.
"It's better to act sooner than later," the governor said to Antenna 1 and Business. "It doesn't compromise, it waits for more data, but it doesn't believe in miracles that prevent inflation from rising.
