Gout Gout: The 60 Minutes Interview
Gout Gout will double in the 200m and 4x400m relay as Australia fields a record 75-athlete team.
Sprint sensation Gout Gout will headline Australia's 75-strong squad at the World Athletics Under-20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon, this August, competing in the 200m and 4x400m relay.
The 18-year-old recently set a U20 world record in the 200m with a 19.67-second run on April 12, surpassing Erriyon Knighton's 2022 mark by 0.02 seconds.
Skipping the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Gout prioritizes the junior championships to emulate Usain Bolt's career trajectory and prepare for an Olympic debut at Los Angeles in 2028.
"I'm really excited to get out there at World Athletics Under 20s in Eugene, Oregon," Gout said Tuesday, expressing confidence he will represent Australia proudly.
The championships run August 5–9 as Australia's squad aims to build on the record 15 medals secured two years ago in Lima.
