Google’s Agentic Hotel Booking Tool Comes to AI Mode

  • On Thursday, Google began rolling out new travel features in AI Mode, allowing users to track flight prices, book hotel stays, and compare costs in loyalty points or miles directly within the chatbot.
  • These updates build on agentic travel booking capabilities Google has teased since last November, transitioning AI Mode from a research tool to an assistant that facilitates trip planning and booking processes.
  • Launch partners include Hilton, Marriott International, and Wyndham Hotels, with flight tracking now available in more than 180 countries, though some features remain restricted in the European Economic Area.
  • Users can now view costs in points or miles through programs like American Airlines AAdvantage and Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards, with support for Flying Blue arriving in the coming weeks.
  • Although options come from more than 300 airlines and travel sites, Google clarifies that participating travel providers, not the search engine, handle final booking and customer service requests.
