Google is launching an AI Health Coach. Here’s what it’s all about
On May 19, Google will rebrand its Fitbit app to Google Health, launching a Gemini-powered Google Health Coach to deliver personalized wellness insights based on user activity and health data.
Consolidating its app library, Google is replacing both the legacy Google Fit and the Fitbit app with the unified Google Health platform to streamline its health and fitness offerings.
Powered by Gemini, the Google Health Coach integrates activity, sleep, and medical data to offer tailored recommendations. Google reaffirmed that health data remains separate from advertising, a commitment legally binding for at least 10 years.
Existing Fitbit users will receive an automatic app update, while Google plans to provide a migration tool later this year for legacy Google Fit customers. Premium access costs $9.99 per month.
The rollout completes by May 26, coinciding with the market release of the new Fitbit Air tracker. This positions Google to compete early in the emerging AI health coaching space.
