Google to Invest $15B in Missouri Data Center, Largest Single ...

Google said the project will add more than 2,300 construction training slots and a $20 million energy fund for Missouri households.

  • On Wednesday, Google announced a $15 billion investment to build a data center in New Florence, Montgomery County, aiming to create thousands of jobs and boost local infrastructure.
  • Under Missouri's Senate Bill 4, signed into law in 2025, Google must pay for 100% of power its operations use while partnering with Ameren Missouri to support infrastructure upgrades.
  • Google also launched a $20 million Energy Impact Fund to help households reduce monthly utility bills; Carla Potts, Deputy Director of Housing Development Programs at NECAC, said the group is "very excited to partner with Google" on energy efficiency.
  • While the project promises to train more than 2,300 construction laborers over two years, cattle rancher Bill Dryer, whose family has worked local land for 60 years, expressed concern about natural resource impacts.
  • The planned data centers will cover nearly 2,000 acres, a footprint roughly the size of 70 Busch Stadiums, as Google also supports a workforce facility and STEAM programs in Kansas City.
