Gombe Commissioner, Police Orderly Die in Road Crash

Colonel Abdullahi Bello (rtd) and his police orderly died returning from a National Disarmament consultation, with the state mourning a dedicated public servant, officials said.

  • On Friday, the Gombe State Government announced Colonel Abdullahi Bello , Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, died in a motor accident along Malam Sidi-Gombe road with Sergeant Adamu Husaini, police orderly.
  • The trip followed attendance at the North East Regional Consultation on the Development of a National Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration framework, the statement said by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, Press Affairs, on Friday.
  • In a statement, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya called the demise a monumental loss to the family, government, Gombe State, and Nigeria, describing the late Commissioner as disciplined and patriotic.
  • The Commissioner's driver is receiving treatment and officials prayed for his speedy recovery, while funeral prayer arrangements will be announced in due course.
  • The governor sympathised with the bereaved families and described Colonel Abdullahi Bello and Sergeant Adamu Husaini as patriots who died in active service, extending condolences to the Balanga Local Government community.
